About Gary
Gary Kephart is a Southern California native. His parents grew up on farms in Kansas. His father and mother moved to California, where his father received an Electrical Engineering degree from Cal State Long Beach, and ended up working on the Apollo, Space Shuttle and GPS programs. Gary graduated from UC Irvine with a B.S. in Information and Computer Science. He has been a software professional for over twenty years. He has worked in industries that include aerospace, financial, multimedia management and mortgage. Because his jobs have been in various industries, and because the IT field has changed so much in the last twenty years, Gary has had ample opportunity to hone his learning, analytical and problem solving skills, which will be useful as a member of the Board.
In September 2001, Gary married his wife, Laura, and they lived in Rancho Santa Margarita until April 2003, when they moved to Ladera Ranch, where they currently reside. Soon after moving to Ladera Ranch, Gary started attending the Ladera Ranch Maintenance Corporation (LARMAC) meetings, which is the homeowner's association, and has run for its Board of Directors. He is a LARMAC Neighborhood Representative, which is an official position, serving as a liaison between the residents of his neighborhood and LARMAC. He is a member of the Ladera Ranch Transportation club, where within the last two years they have successfully worked with the Orange County Traffic Committee to reduce speed limits in critical areas of the community, and to add more crossing guards to the streets near Ladera's schools. He was on the organizing committee for the Ladera Ranch 2006 July 4th event. This annual event includes a professional fireworks show, vendors, games, and stage shows.
